Child & Adolescent Trauma Resources
About Us
Improving access to evidence-based support for trauma-exposed young people
We are a collaboration of clinicians and academics who are working together to create evidence-based clinical resources for supporting trauma-exposed young people. The goal of this website is to make trusted evidence-based resources easily available (for free!) in one location.

How can I get tf-CBT training for my team/service?Our network consists of many highly-qualified and experienced trainers in cognitive therapy for PTSD (and trauma-focused CBTs more generally). On the website's 'Trainings' page you can find information on upcoming trainings. Please note, these will usually be paid-for trainings, with the price set by the trainer and/or their organisation.
-
How do you define trauma and PTSD?We use evidence-based definitions of trauma, PTSD, and complex PTSD. These align with those presented by the UK Trauma Council - see here.
-
Where do you get your evidence from? There is much pseudo-science and 'fake news' in the world of child trauma and mental health - particularly misuse of the neuroscience of trauma. It can be difficult to tell what is evidenced and what is pseudoscience. This website is dedicated to providing resources and trainings based on high-quality evidence: this means peer-reviewed research, reviews, and trusted guidelines. We are also committed to bringing together empirical evidence, clinical experience, and lived-experience, to ensure resources and trainings are meaningful and useful to their target audience. Much of our resources relate to PTSD and complex PTSD, and cognitive therapy for PTSD. Cognitive therapy for PTSD (CT-PTSD) is a type of trauma-focused CBT. Trauma-focused CBTs are the best-evidenced intervention for children and young people with PTSD or complex PTSD - including those who have been through complex traumas or may have complicated lives.

How can I get involved? If you have questions or feedback about the website, or have resources that are evidence-based and you wish to enquire about whether they could be shared on this website, please contact us via email on childtraumarecovery@ucl.ac.uk or via the feedback form on the resources page. Please note that we are a small and busy team, and will not always be able to reply to all emails. Please also note that we are unable to provide any recommendations for therapeutic support or services or advise on clinical concerns.
