Developed with the UK Trauma Council: Trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapies are our best-evidenced way to help young people to overcome PTSD and complex PTSD. This animation helps young people and caregivers understand this treatment approach.
Coping with Scary and Distressing Memories
Developed with the UK Trauma Council: When young people go through trauma(s) one of the hardest things to deal with can be their memories of what happened. Developed with young experts-by-experience, this video gives brief advice on what young people can do to help cope with memories that are very scary or distressing, and where you can turn to for support.
Absolutely Not: Thoughts you might have about mental health support
Developed with the UK Trauma Council: Asking for help following trauma can feel overwhelming. Some young people feel let down by professional services and adults, and may be cynical of whether professionals can help. Developed with young experts-by-experience, this animation talks about getting mental health support after trauma, and why, even if it feels hard, it can be helpful.
Role-Plays of CT-PTSD
A short-version of the Child Post-Traumatic Cognitions Inventory, which has 10-items.
A longer version of the CRIES-8, which covers avoidance, re-experiencing, and hyper-arousal symptoms. As with the CRIES-8, it is validated for use with 8-18 yos.
The Child Posttraumatic Cognitions Inventory is a 25-item child self-report, which supports professionals to understand beliefs the young person may have about themselves and the world around them, which may maintain their PTSD symptoms. Validated for use with 6-18 yos.
The CPSS-SR-5 is a 20-item modified version of the Child PTSD Symptom Scale self-report (CPSS-SR) for DSM-5.
