How to cover a large hole from removed built-in shelf?

Took down a heavy built-in bookshelf and now have a long horizontal hole (about 10×36 inches) where the supports were recessed into the drywall. Need a single cover piece that spans it all.

Built-in shelf removals leave long, ugly scars in the wall. Covering the whole length with one panel is much cleaner than patching in sections. I go for thicker plastic covers with internal ribs for rigidity—they won’t sag or bow over time. The one I installed has a flat door and strong magnetic closure so it stays closed tight. Painted with the same matte finish as the living room wall and lightly textured, it looks like subtle paneling instead of a repair. I fitted a durable wall hole cover (12×40) over the entire span and it’s held perfectly. Add a couple of horizontal furring strips behind for extra support if needed.
